Making the New Fare System

Display delicious buffets and curate catering setups with the agile and sophisticated Fare Trolley System.

Whether delivering intimate in-room dining experiences or catering elegant working lunches, the Fare Trolley System creates a complete setup that can be configured for use based on any event’s requirements.

The Story of Fare

Craster’s development of the new Fare range began in late 2020. As our colleagues across the hospitality industry reeled from an unpredictable market and preventative health measures, operational efficiency became the most important element of catering sites, hotels and restaurants.

To support the industry’s long-term goals of meeting sustainability targets and delivering excellent experiences with agility, the Craster Design Studio engineered a new range that inbuilt both operational efficiency and excellent aesthetics. The Fare system promises to be the benchmark for the next chapter of luxury hospitality and operate as a cornerstone of the industry.

Engineered to support dynamic F&B environments through its modular design and mobility, Craster borrowed the Old English word fær for the new range name. Meaning ‘to journey’ or ‘to travel,’ Fare also recalls our contemporary English word for food served as part of entertainment and the Italian verb meaning ‘to do’ or ‘to make.’ Fare not only captures the activity and hospitality inbuilt in its name, but also reflects the audacity of Craster’s designs and calls upon our 30-year history as an innovator.

Scalability and Versatility: Bridging the Gaps

Fare boasts a sturdy metal frame with high-quality natural timber or hard-wearing laminate shelves designed around a gastronorm footprint. The elegant and lithe aesthetic offers a landscape for curating cuisine displays using the Craster Flow and Tilt systems with their modular design.

Setting up elaborate dining experiences for events can be a cumbersome and time-consuming task. The Fare trolley eliminates the need for uneven station setups and provides a coordinated F&B delivery and distribution experience instead.

Fare enables the creation of a table setup that can be scaled as large or as intimate as the occasion calls for. Engineered for scalability, each Fare trolley features a unique perimeter on the top shelf, into which bridges can be fitted. Each bridge intuitively joins two Fare trolleys at any point of their perimeters to achieve inline, horseshoe and zig-zag displays. Join multiple sets of trolleys and bridges to scale to your environment and move your entire display together in a single push.

With the next chapter of sustainable hospitality in mind, the Craster Design Studio incorporated longevity into the Fare system from the beginning. Each trolley bridge and shelf can be flipped and replaced piece by piece to extend the lifetime of Fare across environments.

Gastronorm Footprint at Scale

Intelligently engineered to transport and display regular gastronorm portions, Fare trolleys offer grooved shelves to hold multiple trays in place during transit. Grooves offer a secure way for multiple trays in place as puzzle pieces, keeping portions or offerings separate.

Fare offers two sizes for trolley. The larger 3.1 Fare trolley carries three 1.1 gastronorm trays within its recess, while the smaller 2.1 Fare trolley can transport two 2.1 gastronorm trays. The footprint difference between trolleys enables the system to cater to agile spaces as connecting bridges and other accessories operate across both trolley sizes.

Diverse Options

Just as visually pleasing as it is functionally brilliant, the Fare Trolley system was designed to fit discreetly into any interior. Developed in consultation with interior architects, the Craster Fare system is available in fine woods like oak and walnut, as well as antimicrobial laminates like Black Marble and White Marble.

Customisation for Fare is readily available. Shelving and bridges for trolleys in laminate finishes are easily created with undersides in a differing laminate to the top. This specification enables different aesthetics in one trolley and is ideal for day to night transformations. To discuss customisation, contact our Design Studio.

Accessories for Elegant Extension of Use

Accompanied by several accessories that aid in the serving setup, the Fare system can be complimented by side mesh in various lengths to offer a full or partial coverage of lower shelves to hide replenishment and plates. Cutlery pots and speed rails also attach at any point on the top shelf perimeter, extending the flexibility of the Fare range.
